Round 10 commenced with both Koala and Kangaroo divisions showing that they are the Kiama netballers of the future. Every week shows improvement in these young girls’ abilities.

In the Beachettes Kangaroo team this week, Charlotte Phillips was the player of her match and was a typical improver, with Bella Wingrove another to shine with her non-stop defensive effort.

In the Koalas game between Downs 9 and Downs 10, two of the stand-out competitors for Downs 9, were Nyah Riddell at both goal attack and goal defence, and Chloe Hoole at both goal shooter and goal keeper. Both girls showed their versatility by playing in both attacking and defensive ends of the court, something a lot of older players cannot handle.

In the 10 years competition game between Beachettes 12 and Central 10, Beachettes played a strong thinking brand of netball, running forward to the ball as practiced at training. Kiara McEvoy, Karlia Cook and Millie Menzies pulled off some great intercepts during the course of the game. Add to this some great rebounding by Ruby Chard and some skilful passing into the circle by Sarah Café and Eliza Jones to Gabriella Downing and Kyla Dowling, who made some dynamic moves in the goal circle, and the stage was set for a well-deserved win by the Beachettes team, 17-1.

Junior A game between Beachettes 10 and Werri 4 saw Beachettes take the match, 19-12. The Beachettes team played very well all around the court. New player, Emily Price, showed what a great asset she will be to the team with a strong performance. Ruby Chard, who had just played a starring role in the 10 years team’s win in the previous match, again showed what a top little player she is with another strong performance in the older grade. For Werri, Emily Tomkins played strongly at centre, with Tessa Gordon showing that given the opportunity she is very accurate with her goal shooting whilst Madi Allenby stood solid at goal defence.

High scoring was a feature of the senior grades this week, with A grade, B grade and C grade all recording some heavy defeats.

In A grade, Gainsborough 1 continued on their undefeated run to another premiership with a decisive victory over Downs 1, 51-15.

B grade saw all 3 games end in large defeats with Downs 2 accounting for Beachettes 2, 66-16, Central 3 def. Gerringong 3, 75-11 and Gainsborough 2 defeating Gerringong 2, 54-20.

C grade saw 2 games with exactly the same score and another heavy defeat. Gainsborough 3 def. Downs 3, 33-28 whilst Beachettes 3 def. Central 5 again 33-28 and in the final game, Central 4 def. Gerringong 4, 51-9.
