Welcome to the 2015 netball season….how fast this seems to have come around (again)!!

We are looking forward to another busy year – Our 2014 season - was another great Netball Season for our club. Our two Moddie Teams had a fun year, improving their Netball skills, making friends and working on their playing ability. The competition was strong for our Intermediate B team, however the girls were commended for their hard work throughout the year. Our Intermediate A team, Cadet team and Senior Team all made it to the finals. Which was a fantastic effort.

Our Senior Team progressed to the Grand Final where they played and Won a very close game against a team that was undefeated all year.

Everyone knows that playing sport is good for you physically. It gets you out of the house and away from the screen-based activities –TVs, computers and video games. Studies have shown that girls who are physically active, including those who play team sports, have a reduced risk of obesity, diabetes, depression and low self-esteem1.

People who play netball also tend to do better academically, are more likely to graduate from high school and have greater career success1.

Being a member of a netball team teaches skills that people take with them into their wider worlds of school and work. Beyond the obvious team work, people also learn to deal with adversity through loses and how to problem-solve more effectively, as well as how to push themselves to improve their skills1. With this in mind….I hope to see many of our players returning this year.

On the following page you will find details for this year’s registration. Registration fees are set by Kiama Netball Association with an additional Werri Beach club fee of $20 which covers payment of team umpires, coaches insurance and other administration costs for the season.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you are unable to attend one of the registration dates and we can organise an alternate time. If you are registering a player who has not yet played in the NSW Netball association (eg. New Moddie player), you will require a copy of the players birth certificate that has been certified by a Justice of the Peace (JP). A list of local JP’s can be downloaded from http://jp.lawlink.nsw.gov.au/public/welcomePublic.do.

Several important dates to add to your diary are Association Grading Day – 7th March 2015 and the first round of the season 21st March 2015 I look forward to seeing you at registration.

Kind regards,

Vanessa Mercer/Registrar and Wendy Robertson/Secretary
